Children’s Day is a Japanese national holiday which takes place annually on May 5th. The purpose of the Children’s Day is to celebrate children’s happiness and to respect their personalities.  While the Girl’s Festival is known as Momo no seku the Boy’s Festival is called “Tango no seku”.

On that day, families with boys raise Koinobori (carp-shaped streamers) outside the house, wishing their success in their lives.

Japanese families also display ornamental Kabuto helmets or samurai dolls at home. because they are believed to be symbols of strength and vitality.

The famous samurai warriors had their original helmets. I would be happy if you could find your favorite helmet. Those Kabuto are the products of Takaoka Copper which is a Japanese traditional craft and has 400 years history.
